"Open Your Eyes to Wildlife"

The Grand Opening for the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) occurred on June 3, 2006. Here is the official announcement and details about that event. "Open Your Eyes to Wildlife" was the theme for the grand opening and Ed Bustya's photo of an American Bittern was chosen to represent that theme. The image was also used in the posters and advertising for the event.

Construction of the visitor center and refuge headquarters began shortly thereafter. The official dedication of this Wildlife Center occurred on March 29, 2008.
